A Game at Chess (16th century play)

While looking up some other things recently, I came across this:

A Game at Chess (Wikipedia article)

"A Game at Chess is a comic satirical play by Thomas Middleton, first staged in August 1624 by the King's Men at the Globe Theatre, notable for its political content."

I had never heard of this before, and I thought (seeing as it is English history as well) that it might be of interest.

Maybe it could be rewritten and restaged for modern times?

Middleton wrote another play, Women Beware Women, which contains a chess scene. This was recently staged by the National Theatre. My brother, who is a drama and English teacher, went to see it.

You can find out more, and discover Streatham & Brixton CC's involvement, here.

We've already had the musical!
