Bobby Fischer Miscellanea

Post by John Townsend » Tue Jan 03, 2023 3:32 pm

Edward Winter has posted Bobby Fischer Miscellanea:

https://www.chesshistory.com/winter/extra/fischer5.html

This is a substantial feature article, which is rich in material not to be found in Winter's other Fischer-related articles. It includes a 1962 article in The People, challenging Botvinnik to a match with Fischer in London.

Where RJF, with not untypical hubris, describes Botvinnik as an "old and weak" player.

I like the photograph which appeared in CHESS, showing an amused Botvinnik after Leonard Barden had shown him the article in The People, with a smiling Geller and one other person looking on. You can make out the word "CHALLENGE" (upside-down).
