A spin through with Stockfish on my phone suggests Mr Hyslop's "winning position" may have been imaginary. (He can be found representing Northumberland, on board eleven, in
1934.)

The Newcastle Evening Chronicle suggested 41...Na4 but 42. b4 Nc3 43. Bd3+ folllowed by a3 seems equal as Bf5 then Bc8 is alwau=ys a threat.

Interesting photos, Gerard. I wonder if the first one was taken after the simul. Capa doesn't look quite "the ticket", does he?
