English chess players by sight.
With a twisted arm I thought I'd make another game. There should be a greater sense of familiarity this time, with some questions being a little too easy maybe. I've toughened it up enough to ensure the chances of anyone getting all questions right are pretty slim. So click on the twitter link to find a direct link to the game. Enjoy.

15/20. I struggled with the 19th Century players and with the time limit.
I couldn't see my final score, but it was in five figures.
Thanks for doing this, Mark McC

Presumably to pick up both Forum and Twitter readersChristopher Kreuzer wrote: ↑Fri Jul 01, 2022 9:50 amWhy are you posting Twitter links rather than links direct to the Kahoot platform?
I dropped my mouse on the floor during my attempt. Fortunately, it wasn't at a critical point.Christopher Kreuzer wrote: ↑Fri Jul 01, 2022 9:50 amThis isn't the sort of thing you can do when you might be interrupted! )

I meant why post Twitter links here, rather than the Kahoot links? I understand why he is posting on Twitter. It is a great idea, I just hope they will still be there when I next get a 'proper' chance to sit down and do this properly (probably Monday). [As an aside, I hope Monday will also be an exciting day in the Candidates, but I fully expect that to be over and done and dusted by then (though maybe second place will be up for grabs).]

I couldn't work out how to do it, it kept posting the game in the edited version when I posted the Kahoot link only and I couldn't fix it.

I got 18, but I can't see the leader board anywhere, although I was first out of five when I did it. I suspect a Richard James or other historian would get 100%.
Thanks for putting this together!

Thanks it was fun. Yeah I also got 18 but once I got to a certain position on the leaderboard I couldn't get any higher.
About four faces I had to guess 50/50: two right, two wrong.
I should have read your instructions on the Soviet one first as I didn't realise in the beginning that speed of answering affected the score, so if I had been quicker on the trigger I could have done a bit better. May try the Soviet one later if it's still there.

Well as others have said, your link via Twitter doesn't work. We need a direct link to the Soviet one here please.
The English one has reached its maximum. It says Ask the host to increase the limit!

Me too. I am getting the following message on the English one: 'Uh-oh! This game has already reached the maximum number of players. Ask the host to increase the limit!'Tim Harding wrote: ↑Mon Jul 04, 2022 11:57 amWell as others have said, your link via Twitter doesn't work. We need a direct link to the Soviet one here please.

And I am also unable to locate the Soviet game link. Anyone?
[Many thanks to MJMcCready for creating and setting up the games - here's hoping more people can play the games soon!]

That should work for the Soviet players game. If it doesn't, let me know.

Failing that, try this. I'm on a bus so this is tricky to oversee.

Hmm. 6/16 and lots of guesses. (This is the 'Soviet' one).MJMcCready wrote: ↑Fri Jul 08, 2022 2:05 pmFailing that, try this. I'm on a bus so this is tricky to oversee.

It would be interesting (at the end) to have a list of all the players you named. I presume there are photos available of even the obscure ones that you used in the quiz as 'wrong answers' (well, obscure to me)? I should have used the strategy of clicking (quickly) people I had heard of, on the assumption that you weren't making it too difficult...
Now to do the 'English' one!

Well, that is annoying, I can't do the English one because the limit hasn't been reset or extended.
Still getting the message:
"Uh-oh! This game has already reached the maximum number of players. Ask the host to increase the limit!"
MJMcCready, the Soviet one was really good. Any chance you can extend the limit for the English one?

Thanks, I will bear that in mind. I am thinking of GMs from around the world next, how does that sound? Worth a play?Christopher Kreuzer wrote: ↑Sat Jul 09, 2022 1:02 pmHmm. 6/16 and lots of guesses.
