Soviets by sight
Hi all, and so I made myself a little game based on identifying Soviet chess players. It's really easy to play but really hard to get all questions right. If you click on the link here: https://twitter.com/McCreadyChess/statu ... mHY9eohYIw . A link to the game can be clicked on directly. You must give yourself a nickname and once added off you go. The game itself is from the Kahoot platform. The faster you answer the question, the higher your score is. It's like a finger first type of game. So as soon as you can recognize the player, for example 'Ah yes, that's Kotov' click on his name as quickly as you can to get a higher score.
I shall be mightily impressed if anyone can score 16 out of 16, and if it's enjoyable enough, I may well make another, but this time with English players. I should add it can only remain active for one month, so you have until 10pm July 27th to give it a go. Let me know how you got on.
Enjoy.

That was fun, thanks!
2nd place as we speak. The few I got wrong were players I hadn't even heard of - apart from Boleslavsky, who I have never seen a picture of before.

14/16 but a couple of them were lucky guesses.

That's an excellent score, Mike. Will you or anyone else confess to being Mirrorman, currently top of the leader board? As 'Trendy' I languish in 9th place and will no doubt sink further.Mike Alderson wrote: ↑Thu Jun 30, 2022 9:22 amThanks!

Fun idea, Mark.

Yes Mark, it's a name I've used several times. I just happened to glance at my copy of the Mirrorman album while trying to think of a handle some years ago.

The Twitter link in this thread no longer works. I went to your Twitter account, but can't find the original thread for Soviet players. Is that challenge still available? Why are you posting Twitter links rather than links direct to the Kahoot platform? (Will do the English players for now - EDIT: actually, can't do it right now, will need to wait until I have time to do it properly! This isn't the sort of thing you can do when you might be interrupted! )

... you get a message saying the page doesn't exist. Not that it matters. I'm a Twitter hold-out and likely to remain so.MJMcCready wrote: ↑Thu Jun 30, 2022 6:00 amIf you click on the link here: https://twitter.com/McCreadyChess/statu ... mHY9eohYIw

I have reassigned Soviet Chess Players so that the limit of players (50) isn't reached. You can play the game here, it has a time frame of a month. I should tell you that with the exception of some of the pics, all info came from Barnard Cafferty's classic on Soviet Chess Championships.https://kahoot.it/challenge/04100736?ch ... 7443002320. You can play here if you haven't already or play again if you want to. It's open for a month and up to 50 people can play.

Well done Rabpaul, I went out of my way to make this hard, so 100% is quite something.

If I am being honest, I nearly took this one out because I thought it was too easy.
