What Paul might be saying here is that Hooper was three times Surrey champion, so it is possible that someone (the BCN editor?) conflated "three times County champion" with a different number (possibly zero) of times Hooper was Somerset champion. Hence the query.

The post at the start of this thread (by John Upham, BCN editor) states "Three times Somerset Champion" but the actual BCN article quotes from Ken Whyld's BCM obituary of Hooper:

"He won the (ed. Somerset) County Championship"

It is not immediately clear which editor inserted "Somerset" here. Was that Whyld, the BCM editor at the time, or the BCN editor (John Upham)?

In the absence of his three Surrey County Championships being mentioned, it looks like the insertion of "Somerset" is an error that needs checking.
