I thought I saw the chance of tempting him to an incorrect sacrifice. The post between England and the USSR takes about a month for the return trip. Soon after posting my move, as I was walking from the Ashmolean Museum to Keble, just passing the front gate of St. John’s, the realisation of what I had overlooked hit me, and there followed an inexorable wait for the death blow which I now saw only too clearly.

Is the answer to this going to be that Hollis on playing 37...Kg7 intended 38 Qa7+ Kg8 but overlooked 39.
