If A N OTHER please state.
I love sleep, I need 8 hours a day and about 10 at night - Bill Hicks
I would die happy if I beat Wood Green in the Eastman Cup final - Richmond LL captain.

For those who have voted for David Norwood, could anyone state if he is prepared to stand from his base in the Barbados and does anyone have contact details? Otherwise we might as well include Alan Carr, Katie Price and Amy Whitehouse in the list of candidates.

So your comparing someone with fake tits , someone with a drug addiction and a gay comedian to Dave Norwood.
He is actually a nice guy John, bit rude tbh

Obviously, there is no comparison in that respect. I just make the point that there is no point wasting time with people who are not prepared to stand.
What evidence is there that DN is prepared to stand?
Is PM a serious candidate or merely a Facebook group?
Walsh, thank goodness, has stepped down so he can be ruled out.
We know that CJDM is prepared to stand : who else (apart from AN Other) is?

I'm a big fan of Sir Patrick Moore.Paul McKeown wrote:Could I suggest Patrick Moore?
However, this article concerns me a tad.
Some may question his age and health, but if he can host a regular TV programme on the BBC, then I don't see why he wouldn't be able to do a good job.

How about asking Sir Alex Ferguson , who said "Football is like chess, lose your focus and you're dead" http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/footba ... -dead.html
He obviously has respect for the game (of chess)

Whenever I lose my focus, I fall over - well not always. But it feels like being dead.

I would like to nominate any of the following for position of ECF President - all are avid chess players :
Freddie Flintoff (along with Monty Pansar and Mike Atherton)
or
Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan (The owner of Manchester City football club)
If nobody asks them, then how do we know they won't be interested - and what a coup that would be if they wanted the position !

I think you want someone who is good at chairing meetings, dealing with conflict and focussed on achieving tangible outcomes.
Charles Clarke seems ideal: If you can run the home office (and he was a minister who did a pretty good job there actually) I think he could deal with the various factions in english chess
And he is renowned for being a chess fan

Some of the reasons I voted for him. That and he could probably sort out the grading systemLaurie Roberts wrote:I think you want someone who is good at chairing meetings, dealing with conflict and focussed on achieving tangible outcomes.

But could he prevail in the ECF Office?Laurie Roberts wrote: Charles Clarke seems ideal: If you can run the home office (and he was a minister who did a pretty good job there actually) I think he could deal with the various factions in english chess
This would be a much more demanding proposition than the Home Office
It is not located in Battle by accident!
