Hi Alex

If you buy something on Ebay, for say £10 and pay by Paypal you don't pay any extra but the seller doesn't receive the full £10, they have to pay the paypal commission.

Online membership renewal would be good though, mine lapsed 4 months ago because I havent yet bothered to fill in the form and post it off.

Hmmm, fair enough.

Does anyone know how to get a new event onto the new ECF calendar?

There used to be a form on the old calendar, but there does not seem to be one on the new one.

Don't think it was earlier in the day - somebody is reading stuff here and making the additions...

I wonder if my email, sent on 1st June at 18.47 had any bearing on that?!! Not that the ECF have actually replied to the email of course!

My Blog Dashboard

Has anyone resgistered to use the new ECF site apart from myself? :D

If so, have you tried use the "My Blog Dashboard" feature?

I have and I always get the following error message :

Hopefully this post will be noticed by those who do not officially look at the EC forum

I did, thinking I'd have super-duper things I could do. It turns out though, there aren't.

On the main page, for me, the Norfolk v Surrey match table of results is too wide for the screen. Can someone get rid of the grading reference column, I don't think that's necessary. You'd fit it in without getting chopped off by the upcoming events/who's online etc.

Update: The page order was changed to fix it... except that now everything is totally messed up.

The attempts to fix the problem are just messing the page up more and more... Why not try this beforehand on webspace that isn't the main website, and then just transfer it over once it's guaranteed to work? This exact complaint came up here the other day with the FIDE gradings website.

Update: The Norfolk-Surry (yes, it was spelt wrong) match was removed completely from the ECF main page.

Having spoken with the powers at be about this issue, there will now be a meeting in July to decide what the "Registered User Benefits" should be.

The site seems no longer accessable as there is no DNS entry for the ECF site now so someone has stuffed it up big time!

Needs attention someone

Reason: Having an MX record for the ECF domain might also help!

A change to the A and MX (mail eXchanger) records was made last Friday and missed by the IPS tag holder. This was because all mail traffic for the englishchess.org.uk domain was being directed via Duncan's company server.

There was a risk his SMTP server was going to be Spam blacklisted so DNS changes were made but not implemented until today.

Allow 24 hours DNS propagation.

In the meanwhile http://www.chessuk.org/ resolves correctly. :D
