Ernie, who are referring to and who do you believe they are a proxy for?

Why not polish it and then circulate it inviting people to sign?
Yeah that worked a treat with ECF last time

I make no comment, Ben, as to how likely it is to work: the point is that if somebody wishes to start a thread calling for an EGM, it seems to me to make sense to have a text and to circulate it. Is this not so?

All,
If you intend going down this road, I would suggest that it be done very carefully and with all the right things in place in time for the meeting.

If you are intending what I assume you are intending then you will need strong, credible replacements for whomsoever you feel requires replacing.

Until you can go to ECF Council with all of these things then it would be a waste of energy.

I guess the above is obvious but I thought I'd post it in any case.

I think that if you want an enquiry into the CfS fiasco there's a certain virtue in asking for one even if you think it'll be refused, since at least in that event people will be seen to have refused one.

In the meantime...

Ernie,

I think you want the report to be used as evidence of the incompetence of the ECF officials involved with this farago, as a means of forcing them out. In that case, it would be much better that they were involved in your investigative sub-committee, lest, when the report was produced, they should deny its conclusions. That's the normal way these things are done, I understand, if one wants someone to fall on his sword.

Justin, if you had actually bothered to read my posting, you would have seen I provided the context, to whit a rather paranoiac sounding quote (from Ernie), which is what it was all about. Do pay attention.

I understood that, Paul. It was the answer to your question after which I was inquiring, since you appeared to be in receipt of none.

OK, Justin, my apologies.
I'm starting to develop the feeling that Mr. Lazenby lives in some sort of twilight zone where conspiracy theories whisper from the shadows behind the trees.
He does in any case need to tell us who he believes is someone else's hand puppet.

So we accept an impasse?

People wont stand while certain individuals are in office and no one is prepared to take steps to cause change because they dont think anything will change. A sad state of affairs.

David made his point rather well when he said nothing will change until the grim reaper comes a calling.
I went to the MCCU AGM in June, which involved me in 5 hours driving, £48 petrol bill to the MCF, and about 4 hours worth of meeting, effectively a whole day away from my family - I made my points about my disquiet with the ECF, the resignations of the Reganistas, Chess for Schools and Charles Wood's postings on here

I left reassured that someone would definitely stand against Gerry for ECF President - by the time I found it this was not so, it was too late to do anything about it
