NEW RULE: IMPORTANT
Have you noticed the Grand Prix’s rule change for 2010-11? It’s a bit important, and there will still be congresses that haven’t picked up on it, so it’s worth a mention here.
You know that Grand Prix scores are calculated by the grading system. New rule: a congress will not count in the Grand Prix unless it gets its grading results to the ECF within one month of the conclusion of the event. That’s to the ECF, not just to the local grader.
More than half of congresses meet this requirement already. But the minority may need a gentle prod, so: if you’re a Grand Prix contender, make sure the organisers of your events are awake to the new rule. Contender or not, If you know people who organise congresses, spread the word!
Don’t panic if you ran a congress in June and haven’t done anything about the grading yet. There is special dispensation for congresses played in June and July 2010. They have till the end of August. After that, the one-month rule will be applied.
