CEO plans

I think the comments by CEO Richard Walsh in the February minutes are worth a separate thread:
Chief Executive Comments RW presented a paper relating to re-organising various ECF functions with a view to improving the operational efficiency of the ECF and make it a more professional organisation.

This took into account:
(a) The absence of the intended post of an Operations and Administration Director.
(b) Supporting the growth of ECF communications.
(c) Updating the website.
(d) The importance of safeguarding.

The professionalisation envisaged required various actions to be taken which were discussed in details and will result in further developments and communications to members over the course of the next few weeks.
A large increase in spending on administration now seems very likely. When the dull parts of all the Directors jobs were consolidated into an Operations Role it did seem unlikely anyone would want to do that job as a volunteer Also, there has been a long time ambition to have a a paid communications role which also now seems to be going ahead.

I'm not a fan of any of this of course. But nothing surprising either.

There's also the suggestion that a print copy of the electronic magazine be produced. They suggested that it would be only available to those who paid for it, but that's putting the ECF in competition with Chess, BCM, NIC etc.
