Hans Niemann warms up for the Classic by winning an all-play-all three points clear of the other nine GMs!

I think the latter claim has been challenged, but yes that is an example of the sort of thing I was getting at.

Sokolov should be concerned more with his own accuracy.

Wins for Gukesh and Adams

Shreyas needs 4/9 for a GM norm?

Good win by Adams - very much in his old style.

I'm guessing that it was a game of suspiciously high accuracy. Absolutely nothing happened.

In round 2, Adams and Niemann drew. Vitiugov and Gukesh drew. McShane and Royal both lost (to Tabatabaei and Volokitin respectively). In the other game, Bartel beat Moussard.

Rd 3 Mickey Adams wins against Bartel to move to 2.5 out of 3 whilst Shreyas Royal has excellent winning chances against the 2692 rated Tabatabaei.

Shreyas now has a completely winning position and Gukesh has won (against Volokitin) to join Mickey in the lead. Vitiugov in trouble against Moussard. Another draw for Niemann (against McShane).

Shreyas wins. Great result and well done. Tabby did seem to rather ask for it in the ending with 44 ...g5. You have to just sit and wait for White to find the winning plan in endings such as this but it's very unpleasant.
