From the ECF Office we have:
The English Chess Federation (ECF) and Chessable are delighted to announce a partnership to provide increased funding and support for English chess events and educational initiatives during 2022 and into 2023.
Building on its global sponsorship of chess events and education, Chessable, the world’s leading chess elearning platform, will now be sponsoring major ECF events from 2022 through 2023 including -
1) The newly established Chessable English Championships (including Senior, Open and Women’s events) which are scheduled for May 2022 in Kenilworth.
2) The Chessable British Championships which is scheduled for August 2022 in Torquay as the next in a long-running series of events since the Championships were first established in 1904.
3) The Chessable ECF Grand Prix which is being relaunched for July 2022 to June 2023 following a three-year break due to the pandemic, and now includes an enhanced prize fund with additional incentives for club players, female players, and junior participation.
As part of the agreement Chessable, providers of the MoveTrainer® software, becomes a primary education partner for the English Chess Federation. The ECF and Chessable look forward to working together on educational initiatives alongside the events to support the wider development of chess, by utilising Chessable’s innovative MoveTrainer® software and unique Chessable Classroom learning environment to help players across England study chess in a fun and efficient way.
Chessable CEO Geert van der Velde states, 'Chessable is dedicated to supporting English chess and hope that this will be the start of a longer-term relationship with the ECF going beyond 2023. We are delighted to become an official learning partner of the ECF and to sponsor such eminent events as the Chessable British Championships.'
ECF CEO Mike Truran remarks, 'I am delighted with the generous support of Chessable, which has become an increasingly important player on the chess learning scene. Chessable’s support will be invaluable in revitalising over the board English chess after the pandemic.'
