Is it too much to ask for the counts?
The ECF will Published it in due course
In due course? For most elections that means when the winners are announced.
To put it another way: countries such as the Soviet Union decide the winners first and announce the results later

I suggest we give them a week and then demand that the full results be released. Five Council members can do that.

There are six members of Council who could ask for publication of their own election result.

I thought the logic behind the decision was to avoid embarrassment to those not elected by revealing how badly they had scored. By the same logic perhaps the grades and games of those graded below 50 should never be published.

The people with low grades deserve rather more respect than that I think. There are more ways to measure the contribution of people to the chess community than chess grade.

In any case I'm not sure the logic has been fully explained - although it was pointed out that other organisations take a similar approach, so it isn't simply a whim of those responsible in the ECF.

The ECF already does that sort of thing - anyone with a grade that is calculated to be negative gets a grade of 0. There are currently 66 players with a published grade of 0. It's possible, of course, that some of them had a calculated grade of 0.

I seem to remember suggesting that the player of the year award should go to whoever had the lowest grade
"Do you play chess?"
"Yes, but I prefer a game with a better chance of cheating."

A statement about the decision not to publish detailed votes for the direct members' elections has now appeared on the ECF website:

Thanks Michael; would it be possible to give the total number of votes cast so we can see how many Members voted in each category?

"the majority were happy with publication, there were some who said that they did not want this and would not have stood without that assurance."

That is interesting.

Anyway, I hope the people who "lost" will not feel discouraged.

Thanks Michael. I hope direct members reps consult on October matters.
