Oooh, the Speckled Egg. Don't see that very often. (Brooks-Latypova.)
Does the SE morph into the Bayonet Attack versus the KID on a regular basis?

The event is organised by British Championship committee rather than the ECF in any case. Having said that I've forgotten who is on the BC committee.
I think that you are referring to the British Isles Co-ordinating Committee.

However, you have repeated a common misconception. The British Championships are organised by the ECF.

I don't understand why players from the Irish Republic are allowed to enter the various British Championships.
Ireland is not part of the United Kingdom and it is not a member of the Commonwealth.

And they were excluded for some time IIRC.

David,

Can you remind me of what the BICC co-ordinates and who are the members of the committee please?

Many thanks!

"1. ECF, CS, WCU, ICU, UCU, JCF, GCF and IOMCA shall recognise as British
Champions the winners of the respective British Championships held at the annual congresses organised by ECF (“the Annual Congresses”)"

For those who don't know all the acronyms and abbreviations, that covers England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, Ulster, Jersey, Guernsey, Isle of Man.

Ctizens of certain British Overseas Territories count as British citizens also, to comply with the British Overseas Territories Act 2002.

John,

I cannot find on the page you reference a list of the members of the BICC.

Also, what does it coordinate?

Thanks anyway for trying.

I don't think that I can add anything to the replies from Kevin Thurlow and Matthew Turner.

Seems first abandon of the tournament, which makes it an odd number of participants :(

Board 4 tomorrow sees the second 1000-point rating gap of the tournament (the first was Latypova-Arkell yesterday).

Nice en-passant mate today in the Pert Gordon game.

I wonder how often these happen, I assume they are very rare?

Ledger beats Hebden in round 5 to lead with 4 points

Pert, Gormally, Harvey, Hebden, Eggleston and Olsen half a point behind

McPhillips, Arkell & Sucikova a further half point back

Trying to work out the pairings is an amusing task, but I'm pretty sure Olson-Gormally will be one of them, seeing as Danny has played the other four white-seekers in the scoregroup.
