ECF FIDE Arbiters

Post by John Upham » Sat Aug 29, 2009 6:11 pm

The official list of ECF FIDE arbiters is provided at http://www.fide.com/fide/directory/memb ... try&fid=43

Is this list accurate? Perhaps they need to remove Bob Wade...

Is Richard W. O'Brien active?

Also:
Julie Ann, Leonard should probably be Leonard, Julie Ann.
Mary Bernadette McDermott is not in the same format as the rest of the entries.
Turnoch, John should be Turnock, John.

Technically these are not all ECF arbiters. They are Arbiters affiliated to England. This means that BCF and ECF arbiters are included (though ECF Arbiters affiliated to other countries eg ME, are not listed).

The ECF website does give a list under arbiters. BCF arbiters are basically those who were arbiters but have no known CRB clearance (some through inactivity, some for other reasons such as no ECF membership).

Also note there are two categories FIDE arbiter and International Arbiter, the former is a stepping stone to the latter.

Alex,
Thanks for the feedback. Do you think that any persons need to be added or subtracted from the list?

Would it not be preferable to show BCF arbiters on the ECF website as "lapsed arbiter qualifications, who may be reinstated as ECF arbiters on production of a valid CRB clearance certificate? ", otherwise the process looks less watertight owing to indeterminate CRB status.
