Is even the queen sac with Nxd5 absurd?

Is the idea of Bb4+ Nxb4 Re8 Bc4+ Kf8 Be6 hxg5?

Maybe Black can get away with Bd6. I had thought that Bc4 was good against that, but I had a slight error in counting the number of pieces for each side :(

Good grief c6 has been played that is calm under pressure but can it really work?

ouch! Nc3, so devilishly simple and deceptively very strong! Bc4+ of course, is the threat.

If... b5, then Nxb5 with the idea of Rc7+ should it be exchanged off.

One chess engine line after 14...Bd6 was:

...Bd6
Bc4 Bxe5
Nxf6+ Ke7
Nd5+ Kd7
Bxd8 Raxd8
Nc3 Kc8
O-O Rd2
Rfe1 Re8
b3 c6
Re2 Rxe2
Nxe2 Bf6
Rd1 b5

Currently, after 16...Kf8, the assessment is... 0.00.

(Bxf6 Bxe5; Bxd8 Rxd8 etc.)

So both players seem to be playing very cool under pressure.

Lewis,
Devilishly simple perhaps but what happens to your bishop on g5 if you have to exchange is for the knight then White has a serious disadvantage

after 18...Kg7 Black seems ok.

In the current position it looks like White has run out of steam. :(

White has a perpetual in one line, whether it is forced or not, I don't know.

Chris,
The line you give leaves Black with two Bishops and a queenside majority, I don't think it is equal, Black could definitely be getting the upper hand.

Yeah, the computers are slowly changing their minds... Now down to -0.06. :D

Possibly the point is that Black's h8 rook takes so long to get active.

Black has just one problem to solve. How can he activate his h8 Rook without putting his king somewhere stupid. If he can do that then Nick has a great chance.

Psychotic attack, yes. But no draw. Williams appears to be just a rook down at the moment, sadly.

Nick looks clearly better now. Going to be a long struggle for Jonathan Hawkins to get a draw from here.
