I searched my comments for the use of the word "bargain" attributed to me and didn't find it. While I accept the point made here by Mr Townsend, I continued by observing out that £18 could be either "significant" or "a pittance" depending on circumstances.John Townsend wrote: ↑Thu Mar 07, 2024 7:44 amPolite note to Roger Lancaster:
David Lettington used the word "bargain". In reply to his contribution, you said: "Entirely agree".

Re: ECF Membership Reform
Would you expect this behavior?
When I imported the membership list from November 29th it has 18268 entries
Today (January 3rd) it had 17453 which is 815 fewer.
In previous seasons membership the number would increase steadily from September to May and definitely not decrease mid-season.
Is this behaviour a consequence of the new rolling membership scheme?

Yes, inasmuch as under the old system, it couldn't do anything other than increase steadily from September to May.

It's possible the new rolling membership scheme will obscure a trend. I wonder, how many members now play no (or not very many) rated games during their period of membership? How many members or supporters play online only?
