Having just seen the entry list on Chessbase for the Beijing Mind Games rapid/blitz (Dec 9-18), I can't imagine there are enough super GMs left for there to be a London Classic this year. Or at least not at the level we have been accustomed to.

Carlsen, Aronian, Caruana, Grischuk, Nakamura, Anand, Karjakin, Kramnik etc etc etc will all be in China when we might have hoped some of them would be in London.

I haven't yet had the opportunity to speak to Malcolm Pein about the ChessBase report.

However, I'm pretty sure that Richard is correct and that ChessBase have got it wrong.

I would not fret either about LCC participation.
If you look at the 2013 Mind Games, about at the same time last year they published a similar announcement of the eligible/invited players:

Still, more details about the LCC are welcome, I'm sure we'll get good news at some point.
