Query about Fritz (the chess program); passwords

Hi Nick
I've had a look at your video. I'm sure it is very good, but does it apply to Fritz 13 ? I'm getting the idea but not quite there yet.
I think at 82 these things take longer to sink in than for you young guys. Thanks also to David Gilbert for pointing me in the right direction.

One of the main difficulties with Fritz 13 seems to be creating a new database. Why it was altered from Fritz 3 I can't imagine.

I haven't watched Nick's video (so sorry if this repeats info) but the way I'd do it is:

From the main screen (where you would play a game) Go to "file" then "new" then "new database"

You then choose a name for your database and "create new".

From the main board screen you can key in a game (hit infinite analysis to stop the program responding if needs be), once you have the game entered you can go "file" again and "save" to add game details and append to the database you just created.

Nick may well be able to give you a better way!

Fritz 13 seems a very tricky programme, with so many menues and alternatives popping up.

Thanks for that Nick, very useful. My problem is that I'm not transferring games from another database to a new database but trying to put a game that I've just put in infinite analysis to a new database.

Don't worry about not being able to come to terms first go with these things.
I too toil when wrestling with a computer.

This is to make people think they have something new.

Fritz 3 and Fritz 13 are the exact same program.
Of course if you play Fritz3 v Fritz13 then Fritz3 let's Fritz13 win because it has been told to.
It's all part of an elaborate and quite brilliant scam.

We the punters won't know the difference because 99% of us naff at Chess.
We cannot beat Fritz 3 until we install a later version of Fritz!

The Fritz3 program picks up you have installed a leter version and then it let's you win some games,
you think you have got better (of course you haven't and this is the beauty of the scam.)
Each 'new' version of Fritz is told to lose if it is playing a higher version it's self.

This of course can be proved.
(Don't try this bit Barry as it gets technical.)

Install Fritz 6 and Fritz 10 on the same computer. (they must be on the same computer.)
Play them against each other and Fritz 10 wins.
Go to the folder that stores Fritz6 and change the .exe name to Fritz11.
Suddenly Fritz6 (now called Fritz11) starts winning.

It's one of the most brilliant scams in the history of brilliant scams.

I also reckon it's a bit too cunning and underhand for it to come from Germany.
I've met Germans, basically they are hard working honest individuals.

This get rich scheme is pure Liverpool in it's execution. It's a piece of art.
They chose the name Fritz because nobody would buy a chess program called 'Scouser'.
