Sean Hewitt used to use the results in a pre-nominated football match to define who on board 1 had White and who Black. 0-0 counted as even. Then, if it was odd the number 1 seed got white. If even, the number 2 seed.

I spotted a statistic starting with a 6 in it.

It must be a statistical estimate. They don't mention that she played on top board for the Hong Kong open team in two Olympiads. In 2006 she was involved in what I believe is still the only top board encounter between two female players, her opponent being Bermuda's Zuzana Kovacova.

Are you including Olympiads prior to Haifa 1976?

In case anybody does not know, he is central to artificial intelligence and developed a computer to beat the World Champion at GO. Not teaching it, but programming itto teach itself.
A strong point is made about how important chess was to his development.

The final of the UK Snooker Championship was truly like a game of chess out there this evening.
Neil Robertson thinking for about 4 minutes over one shot against Judd Trump compared very closely with Fischer in the game in the US Closed Championship in 1964 where Bobby thought for 50 minutes and I had no idea what he was thinking about.

The "i" general knowledge crossword for Saturday started with a clue wanting to know the name of the actress who starred in "Queen's Gambit" and a few clues later asked who wrote books such as QG, Hustler etc.

We do really need to listen to these people.Alice O’Gorman from Dublin is secretary of the European Chess Union’s Women’s Commission and has carried out significant research in the area. “As ages increase, the percentage of women playing decreases, showing girls have a much higher dropout rate than boys,” she explains.
“The most successful initiatives to keep girls playing are female-only camps and training. Because this allows them to be in a non-male-dominated environment and form friendships with other girls, making them more likely to continue playing.”
O’Gorman, who is a chess player herself, says she too has been subjected to gender-based remarks. “When I was starting out I got a lot of negative comments,” she explains. “And it is quite intimidating. I think to progress, there has to be more education and a plan to make tournaments nicer places for girls to go.”
