The second leg of the Copa del Rey semi-final is "una partida del ajedrez" according to our commentator on the Telecinco channel.
Disappointing result
Well they were two down at Granada in the previous round going into injury time and got away with it (scored twice, still had time for Granada to miss an open goal, still had time for Granada to take the lead in extra time) so something like last night (late late equaliser after Sevilla had missed a penalty to clinch it) was always going to happen.
"Do you play chess?"
"Yes, but I prefer a game with a better chance of cheating."

Well done everybody. Special mention to those who found a way to show they had found the answer without actually giving it.

For a chess appropriate prize reward yourself by watching one of Danny King's Powerplaychess videos on youtube. He did a series on Fischer's games including the Fischer-Petrosian candidates final.

The 4 Borises were:
Boris Becker
Boris Spassky
Boris Yeltsin
Bojo

I just watched the chess programme on Eurosport that I mentioned above.
The 30 minute programme was a resume of the Meltwater Champions Chess Tour. It was won by Wesley So, beating Magnus in the final.
The commentators were David Howell and Jovanka Houska. It was played on the internet.
The next programme will be 16 March.
It wasn't bad, showing a number of blunders and also flashy combinations. I don't think they gave enough time for an ordinary viewer to
work out what was going on.
If we write in, praising the programme, that would make it more likely others would be broadcast, to the advantage of chess.
I haven't yet found out how to write in.

Phil Tufnell on England cricket's latest struggle in India.

"They still need to pick what they think is their best side, not always this chess game of rotation."

No, I don't know what he means either.

Hi Kevin,

I've no idea.

Perhaps he has one of these and is using the chess pieces to go around the Ludo board.

Keep hearing about how bad the English batsmen are but the Indian bowling and fielding has been superb.

(great game Ludo. )

I have no idea how much Phil Tufnell knows about chess, but I would take that as a reference to players who vary their openings.

You may be giving him too much credit.

BBC2 tonight, European Indoor Athletics Championships from Torun, Poland.
The British pole vaulter Holly Bradshaw was making her first attempt and succeeded.
Steve Backley and Toni Minichiello were commentating.
After Holly Bradshaw went over, Toni Minichiello said:
" Now the chess games really start."

JON CULSON an impressionist and actor, interviewed in Saturday's Daily Telegraph in a series called
IF I COULD SEE ME NOW ...
'While I always viewed my career in chess moves, thinking about where I wanted to go next, I think my younger self would still be amazed by where I've ended up.

Keith Arkell mentioned Juga Di Prima elsewhere.

Here's a link

Sky News got confused and captioned her as "Juga Polgar".

(I guess this could be construed as an advert, but I think it's of general interest - I'm not her agent.)

Saw Rooney as a 16 year old in a pre-season game Hibs v Everton. (2-2)
You could see even then he was going to be a great player.

There must surely have been some chess references applied to the recent royal family shenanigans?
