Private Eye 1577 has a cartoon of a chess board, with a blond-haired king lying on its side, captioned "World KIng".

PAWN TO INFINITY an anthology of short stories linking 'chess' and 'science fiction' edited by Fred and Joan Saberhagen, published in 1982.
I am rereading the stories and some others may not know of this collection.
