Judit as President would have been good for the sanctioning of Dvorkovich and weakening Kirsan Ilyumzhinov's bid to resume as FIDE President (proposed by the Russian Chess Federation).
CHESS magazine reports:
The EU is once again considering sanctioning the FIDE president...Mr Dvorkovich was listed on the 20th set of EU sanctions but was removed after pressure from Hungary. Following the election defeat of Victor Orban, the view of the Hungarian government is different...Russia's world chess supremo faces new threats of EU visa bans and asset freezes, after the Kremlin lost its Hungarian anti-sanctions firewall.

Why is he being sanctioned? Is it because he supports the war on Ukraine?

In case it was not clear from the above, Polgar declined this proposal:

Judit Polgár says she does not ‘feel enough strength within me’ to take on the responsibility of uniting a divided nation
Sensible decision. A lot of politics.

Why is he being sanctioned?
He would be considered part of the Russian hierarchy supporting Putin.

Another woman, also of similar age and beauty, has been an erstwhile teammate of mine: Antoaneta Stefanova. Antoaneta is also a very strong Grandmaster. She´s already an elected Member of Parliament in her native Bulgaria and even seriously considered as a possible future Bulgarian Prime Minister. (Great minds think alike, because she also, twice, accompanied her sister to the Bulgarian version of
Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? and evem once, partnered by another Bulgarian celebrity, played on the show herself. For charity!)
I´ve cited her example to both Judit and to her sister, Sofia Polgar. I have pleaded with her to accept Magyar´s offer of the Presidency.
She would make a simply fantastic President of Hungary!
