Re: Do we have a worse book title than this?
I have some contenders...
Amongst the books for beginners at chess, there is fierce competition to stand out among the crowd, hence the use of eye-catching subtitles.
(1) This one stands out, but not for good reasons:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Chess-How-Play ... 1515070115
How to Play Chess for (Absolute) Beginners: The Journey to Your Empire Begins Here
(2) Following closely behind that in the silliness stakes is:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/CHESS-BEGINNER ... B09Q92PDDX
CHESS FOR BEGINNERS: The COMPLETE MANUAL to Quickly DOMINATE the GAME, Even if You Have Never Moved a Pawn
(3) While this is just limp:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/How-Play-Chess ... B0BTNVH75R
How to Play Chess for Beginners: Learn the Strategies and Tactics to Easily Master the Game and Win Even If You Start from Scratch
I note in passing that the author of (2) above is Matt Knight (an example of nominative determinism).
The covers of some of these beginners' chess books are 'interesting' as well!
(A) Cats
https://www.amazon.co.uk/50-Chess-Quick ... B0CJ3VVW9M
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Magic-Chess-El ... B0C481GRHS
The second link above is a late contender for silliest title and attempt to break into the self-help life-coaching market:
The Magic of Chess: Elevating Your Game and Your Thinking: A Chess Course for Beginners and Intermediate Players to Develop a Winning Thought Process in Chess and Life
(B) Upside down chess!
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Chess-Beginner ... B08TLX4GWB
A different approach to standing out from the crowd, though from the reviews of the book it is not entirely clear if the cover image is intentionally upside down, or this is just slipshod (self?)-editorial processes.

Those are indeed pretty bad. Let's hope it doesn't get much worse than that.

Well, I only came accross the one I originally posted on abebooks.com and it made me laugh so I thought I should post it. Not sure I would want to dedicate an entire post to it but having looked, some of them are rather funny too.Mick Norris wrote: ↑Sun Oct 22, 2023 8:36 amThis thread is like an alternative version of the S&B blog
