I'm limiting my chess drama time today... as I'm actually going to spend time ringing clubs up and then some time preparing for OTB chess...
Your chances of finding a club that will welcome you will be a function of if the persons you are telephoning have read any of your ramblings in this place.

For the sake of others please inform this place which club (if any) has welcomed you.

Yes, but paraphrasing one of the Marx brothers (?) does he want to be a member of any club which will have him as a member?

One of the ironies of this is that I remember a few years ago we were discussing the possibility of entire Olympiad teams being made up of ex-England players (Andorra and Wales were mentioned). I didn't have any objection to that - free entries to the Olympiad! - but some tendentious forumites seemed to think it amounted to modern colonialism.

Englishmen abroad aren't immigrants, dear boy. They're expatriates.

Jimmy Page & Robert Plant wrote a superb hypnotic song about an Immigrant

If I see him in the Coop I'll suggest it.
This was in response to John Upham pointing out that Anton Korobov resides in Crowthorne.

There is a long list of other ex-Soviet state players (some now born after 1991 to be fair) who reside or at least play in the UK and Ireland. Are some of them not strong enough to get a mention? The only ones I can think of immediately are Alexander Cherniaev and Alexander Baburin, but there are loads more.

Some more recent ones would be good to have recorded for posterity (some have been active giving simuls and coaching in the past 5-6 years).

All will be pleased to know a club does want me to play for them and I've spoken to them on phone......

Some of my chess playing may depend on funding from my multi millionaire sponsor DEAN STAVELEY...

Will the ex Holmfirth multi millionaire (he still has at least one turbine there) provide more funding............ who KNOWS...

Surreal life and world continues...

I played an ex-Soviet Brit in July.

Fun fact: the 2007 British Championship featured more women born in the USSR than it did women born in the UK.

Yes, but as well as living in Edinburgh (?) Keti is also married to a Scotsman.

I note also you were careful to say ex-Soviet as opposed to ex-Russian as, as far as I can remember, Keti is originally Georgian.

I get the feeling that Carl finds MHs nonsense of some amusement. Clearly it has no value otherwise.

Perhaps we should feel pity?

That's a bit harsh isn't it, I mean yeah it doesn't belong in this thread but just erasing people because you disagree with anything they say is a pretty dangerous road to go down
Lose one queen and it is a disaster, Lose 1000 queens and it is just a statistic.

I agree with John S and I think this forum has been in decline for some time.

I’m considering closing it so I don’t have to deal with this s**t.
