Happy with 2/2 in my matches tonight although plenty of room for improvement, especially in the first game. Getting back in the groove...

Its always good when somebody returns to competitive chess after a while out :)

Thank you Mark. I am blushing whilst drinking my morning coffee. Holmfirth and the wider league are open and friendly with a great ethos.

Next Wednesday we are going to be doing some rapidplay with the older juniors to help prep them for the Yorkshire Junior Chess Grand Prix event at Holmfirth High on the Saturday. Going to set them on the adults, so enjoy.

Best wishes to all those out for Yorkshire (4 of ours) in the County Finals this weekend.

I would defer to Ben (York), Andy (Ilkley), John (Alwoodley) and many others first! But thanks!

If you've got time and some spare cash, maybe start by joining the ECF and entering the weekender or one (or two) of the rated weekday sections at British Championships. You're not going to improve if you don't play. Getting in ten or more games in a week at the British will at least get you on the rating list. PS: Don't hang about - entry fees go up after tomorrow.

Thanks I get what you mean...

Current plan I think will be to play local league chess... already played some games etc with clocks at local club.

Want to get some wins there... and hopefully in Yorkshire league too...

Then... as soon as I'm ready... maybe a fairly local congress...
