Swiss Manager Question
I have entered around 80 players into SM for a tournament 0n November 13th and now the latest ENGR rating list has appeared.
Is there a way to update the displayed ratings for the entries so far in Swiss Manager in one fail swoop?
As the first step I have imported the latest ENGR and ENG lists.
I could go through each player one at a time of course.

John,
SM Other > Update ratings / data.
Then choose the select your rating list from the selection provided and select from the radio butons whether you are you using national id or FIDE Id as a key in your chosen rating list. Select which fields you wish to update from the checkbox. Click on "Start test" if you wish to see the results without actually carrying it out, or "Start update" to do it.

Re: Swiss Manager Question
Thanks Paul. When I use the ENGR list the ratings get replaced with "0" and the Clubs are replaced with "H".Paul McKeown wrote: ↑Thu Nov 03, 2022 2:57 pmJohn,

I suspect that the ENGR rating list format has been modified without considering the impact on SM users.
Edit: I now know not to use the _csv ENGR but to use the _SM ENGR.
However, the clubs are still replaced with H.

Re: Swiss Manager Question
There is definitely a problem importing the ENGR rating list into SM.
It would appear that the ECF have altered the format of the _SM rating list and moved columns about.
The consequence is that when you import players their clubs appear as "H".
No idea if those responsible are aware of this.

It also seemed to affect Congresses using their own entry list.John Upham wrote: ↑Fri Nov 04, 2022 11:22 amIt would appear that the ECF have altered the format of the _SM rating list and moved columns about.
Witney was fixed somehow

4NCL Harrogate, the fix may still be outstanding

A bodge is to download the ENGR and then manipulate the columns to get them into the correct format.
Is it too much to ask that the ECF would work with SM to allow the import to actually work correctly?
I will ask Sue Ellen Bravehart for help.

Re: Swiss Manager Question
Anyone know what the function
"Show Protocol in Editor" does in Swiss Mangler?
I assume that it shows the protocol in the editor.

Re: Swiss Manager Question
Are you getting this as an option on the upload to chess-results.com function?John Upham wrote: ↑Sat Jan 06, 2024 3:09 pmAnyone know what the function

I assume that it shows the protocol in the editor.
It shows some information about the transfer in in the configured List directory. The file is called SwissManagerDmp.txt. I have never found it useful, nor have I ever found it documented. You could ask the author of the software, but I suspect it is just some ancient data transfer debugging tool that just is there without any great reason for being there nor without any real use to 99.9% of the software's users.
Here is a sample SwissManagerDump.txt file created by "Show Protocol in Editor"
Start File transfer to server
File transfer ok
Start reading Swiss-Manager file on server

Re: Swiss Manager Question
It sets the base date for classifying by age as players are input from an import file. So, you could set the tournament as e.g. age by calendar year (FIDE) or e.g. age by academic year (EPSCA).John Upham wrote: ↑Sat Jan 27, 2024 3:34 pmAnyone know what functionality
