ChessBase Engine Analysis Problem
If you're using an engine to do "Full Analysis" of a game, the display normally looks like the screenshot.
If you close the engine's assessment and best line window, how do you get it back again? I could find no way of doing this other than restoring the "Houdini 3 Analysis.cblay" file from backup.
(I'm using the Houdini 3 GUI, but I assume the question and answer would apply to any of ChessBase's engine GUI's.)

Re: ChessBase Engine Analysis Problem
i dont use full analysis i run a kibitz engine and move through the moves looking for turning points in the game and analysing my thoughts on various combinations i spotted during the game, and if i make a mistake painstakingly trying to find a way out of the mistake if in future i come across a similar position.

i also use the most human of engines fritz 14 so that my thought processes arent confused by computer logic that no person could emulate over the board

Re: ChessBase Engine Analysis Problem
I am currently unable to access a PC and so can't test this myself, but does the key combination Ctrl K help in this situation?

Re: ChessBase Engine Analysis Problem
I use the Fritz GUI. From memory you can select which windows you want to display. If the display becomes too confused you can reset to default display and then try to add back any additional windows you wish to see.
I haven't done this during full analysis. Not convenient to check at the moment (very slow laptop and a bit late !)

Re: ChessBase Engine Analysis Problem
Thanks for the suggestions, which I've now tried.
That just starts an engine. In my situation, the engine's running but I can't see its evaluation. <Ctrl>+K didn't change anything.Colin Purdon wrote: ↑Thu Aug 04, 2022 4:56 pmdoes the key combination Ctrl K help in this situation?
I'd already looked through the manual and didn't find anything about opening the Evaluation window. Your other suggestion of resetting to the default display led me to Standard Layouts in the manual, so I tried <Ctrl>+8 and <Ctrl><Shift><Alt>+F9. Although they work from other windows neither had any effect in the Full Analysis window, but that could be because the program becomes very slow to respond to/unresponsive to inputs when the engine is running.Roland Kensdale wrote: ↑Fri Aug 05, 2022 12:02 amMay not be relevant but found this: http://help.chessbase.com/Houdini/15/En ... 000017.htm

Re: ChessBase Engine Analysis Problem
try adding kibitz window in the ordinary set up- full analysis mode isnt important to analyse, did you just ignore my suggestion?Ian Thompson wrote: ↑Fri Aug 12, 2022 4:39 pmThanks for the suggestions, which I've now tried.

Re: ChessBase Engine Analysis Problem
As it didn't answer the question I raised, yes.
If you want to have a discussion about how to make best use of an engine to analyse games then that needs a new topic starting.
