I would like to take a survey on the sicilian

What is your sicilian line is it mainline open sicilian or an anti-sicilian system. I am interested in playing the Sicilian Dragon and am busy studying it.

A lot of people lately are playing the morra gambit, Bb5 lines and maroxy binds - basically everything but the main line variations, so if you do take up the Sicilian you'll find you rarely get a pure dragon game anyone and those White players who actually are brave enough to take it on tend to know what they are doing !
Lose one queen and it is a disaster, Lose 1000 queens and it is just a statistic.

Inexperienced Dragon players can sometimes be carrying a sign saying "victim". That's either falling foul of the Fischer plan (open the h file, sac, sac, mate) or falling for a Levenfish trap by meeting 6 f4 with 6. .. Bg7 without knowng the Mestel line and similar avoidances.

Hi Alan.
A good topic to start on the forum.
Especially as I play the Sicilian myself. Although I don't play the Dragon variation as I have seen too many Dragons slayed.
Might be worth changing the spelling for one of the candidates in the voting as it is spelt "Rossolimo" not "Rossomilio".
I have faced the Wing Gambit a number of times which might be worth adding to the list of candidates.

I was a Dragon player in the sixties, but gave it up after the advent of Bc4 in the Yugoslav variation and, since then, I have usually relied on the French. Just lately, though, I've been trying the occasional Accelerated Dragon at correspondence play - with mixed success so far. At least, it avoids the Yugoslav.

For that matter what is the
Gwaine Attack
I'm aware that English GM Gawain Jones has written books containing off beat suggestions against the Sicilian, but which line are you associating with his name?

Yeah. I must admit, I've not heard of the Gwaine Attack.
Might be worth replacing it in the vote with the Wing Gambit.
Anyway I'm gonna head back down to the Congress Diary Category, as I have some more English events to start Topics on.

The Gwaine Attack is a new popular line not in the dragon but in the anti-sicilians i think it goes 1 e4 c5 2 Nc3 Nc6 3 Bb5 or something like that

No.
The Wing Gambit is 1.e4 c5 2.b4
Geoff Pennington from Preston Chess Club regularly plays it in our league.

Presumably only when there is a reason why ...gxf5 isn't a good move.
