Ray Keene coming out of retirement...
Have you ever wanted the PLEASURE of a game against the legendary Raymond Keene?
Do you have a spare £120 that you were thinking of just throwing in the bin?
Well, my friends, you are in for a treat - for one night only you have the opportunity to play the man himself (for the price mentioned)

Form an orderly line, if you please.

Lose one queen and it is a disaster, Lose 1000 queens and it is just a statistic.

£17.50+VAT per month for their livestreams looks like the value proposition, although I shall probably resist that one too.
If you want a picture of the future, imagine a QR code stamped on a human face — forever.

We should crowdfund an entry from EJH just to witness GMRDKOBEs reaction.
I'd happily contribute.

I'm sure you would John.
"Do you play chess?"
"Yes, but I prefer a game with a better chance of cheating."

Raymond does still give simuls from time to time. Try a Google search for other sightings.Joey Stewart wrote: ↑Wed Jun 22, 2022 1:12 amWell, my friends, you are in for a treat - for one night only you have the opportunity to play the man himself (for the price mentioned)

£120.00!
I hope it goes OK for the old chap but I'll give this one a miss.
If you too are an old chap you can pay half of that (£60 - if you enter before the 7th of July) and spend
a jolly week playing other old chaps in sunny Torquay with at least the remote chance of winning £400.
If it was not so far away I'd be interested in that. (is there an over 70's booby prize?)

I like your idea John, If Justin is up for it then put me down for £5.00.
The picture of the pre-game handshake will be priceless.
(or start it off then do a runner with the cash - RDK would relate that.)

Re: Ray Keene coming out of retirement...
You'd probably have a realistic chance of beating him now, which he wouldn't like. That alone would be a priceless moment to see his reaction and knowing it was a beating at the hands of a mortal enemy.
Although I suppose knowing he pocketed hundreds of pounds of chessplayers hard earned money in the process would take the shine off any such victory.

Hi Justin,
For a laugh.
I'll meet you at the airport, we can go around the Orient
ground and get O's mugs, coasters and fridge magnets.
The off to the game, a picture of handshake which Carl will use
as a banner for this site and then the three of us round to Ray's
flat to view his OBE. Sounds ike a great day out.
Watching the live games at chessbomb. Caruana v Rapport.
Fabiano here...
...could have sacced on b5 Nxb5 and Nxb5 and then mated on d6.
Looks like he missed it.

Everyone who paid for the ticket I would imagine, either Keene gets embarrassed or you do so it's a win win situation.

Re: Ray Keene coming out of retirement...
I thought it somewhat ironic that the organisation running this simul is organising another event called "Rogues – True Stories of Grifters, Killers, and Crooks" at the same time (for a mere £16.09 including fees and taxes).Geoff Chandler wrote: ↑Wed Jun 22, 2022 2:20 pm(or start it off then do a runner with the cash - RDK would relate that.)

+ £7.20 + VAT for fees = £152.64, but you do get snacks and drinks for that.Ian Thompson wrote: ↑Wed Jun 22, 2022 9:49 am£120 + VAT = £144.Joey Stewart wrote: ↑Wed Jun 22, 2022 1:12 amDo you have a spare £120 that you were thinking of just throwing in the bin?
