That might need careful definition. There are a few players who have taken part in both of those leagues who are clearly chess professionals, in as much as they derive an income from chess-related activities on which they will be liable to pay income tax, but probably weren't paid for playing in the league.

Much to my surprise, he castled opposite sides and launched a kingside pawn-storm! I launched a queenside pawn storm, but his was a bit better. C'est la vie. Uselful analysis afterwards as well.
