MegaBase Question

Post by John Upham » Wed Nov 24, 2021 11:29 am

A question for the Megabase experts out there....

I'm updating Megabase 2020 with Megabase 2022.

My Megabase 2020 now contains a fair few games that now are annotated but when it was fresh it did not.

How do I import the annotated games into Megabase 2022 replacing the unannotated versions?

Thanks for your help.

I'd copy all the annotated games into Mega 2022 and then run a "Find Double Games" check with "Keep 'better' game" selected, Names set to "Similar" and Moves set to "Exact". That should mark for deletion most of the unannotated games, but possibly not all of them unless ChessBase has fixed the double checking routine in the more recent versions of ChessBase. (I'm using an old version where it both fails to find all actual doubles and reports games as doubles when the moves aren't exactly the same.)
