Ok, we finally arranged to go into Metro Bank this afternoon in Manchester; they were very pleasant; it took 1 hour and 40 minutes to complete the process, and even then we have to produce something else to complete the application

Did Nat West in the end. It was a complete ball ache. Decided to transfer the money and shut the HSBC manually as the forms were so complicated. Then found out I needed to write in with yet more forms for HSBC. No response of course....

All sorted with Metro Bank after a short delay at our end; they do seem very helpful
I've messaged HSBC about closing our account with them, like Stephen, I expect it will be hard work

They took their time and did not notify me of closure. It is shut though with no charges.
