The Chess Circuit - Adam Raoof's newsletter moves and improves

Post by Adam Raoof » Wed Aug 19, 2020 7:09 pm

Dear Chess Friends,

If you were already getting my emails because you like receiving notices about tournaments that I run under the banner of Chess England, then don’t do anything!

You will still receive them, but I have migrated from MailChimp to Substack as I now have over 3,000 opted-in subscribers just like you. You have been added to the Free Plan because you subscribed to my newsletter at some point. You will also be able to access other articles on https://chesscircuit.substack.com/ (which you couldn’t before).

The Chess Circuit - why you need to subscribe!

It has been a hard few months, hasn’t it? But over the board chess is going to bounce back, with a gentle start over the next few months (over the board) and then, hopefully, a BOOM in 2021!

The Chess Circuit is going to be my chess-related news digest. You don’t need to faff about on Facebook or trawl Twitter any more. Chess-related chat is on the way to your mailbox.

You are already on the free plan, but if you are able to afford a subscription, it would really be appreciated. It will cost you less than £1.50 a week! You can pay monthly or annually.

The paid plan is for those of you who would not just like to receive literally everything I produce, but also for those who know me, know that I am dedicated to chess, and would like to support my work.

What’s going on in the next few weeks?

I am doing another seven round 10 minute blitz chess tournament this Thursday on Tornelo and Zoom, at 7.30pm and all are welcome. We will be finished by 10pm. Join us here for a fiver - https://tornelo.com/chess/orgs/chess-england

After that I am holding a standard 5 round congress (our virtual Hampstead tournament) at the end of the month and that will be our first ECF online list graded event! We had a vote and an overwhelming number of you were in favour of the idea as long as online games are graded separately (which they are). The time control is 60 minutes per player plus 10 seconds a move.

You will now have to be a member of the ECF to play in that event, at any membership category. To become an ECF Supporter costs you £10.00 these days - https://www.englishchess.org.uk/ecf-membership/ is the link you need.

HOWEVER - if you subscribe to my newsletter on one of the paid plans you can claim a 50% discount (that is £15.00) on the entry fee!

Join us here - https://tornelo.com/chess/orgs/chess-england

I look forward to seeing you all soon at an event, or online!
