Unless Tim can claim citizenship or residency of Israel the answer is no.Simon Rogers wrote: ↑Tue Nov 24, 2020 3:31 pmThat's it a bit of a shame Tim.
The travel corridor has opened up to Israel.
Is there any events taking place there you can go to?

I'm tempted to say: "Don't be ridiculous - of course it will be." Tempted, but sadly wiser.Paul Robert Jackson wrote: ↑Tue Nov 24, 2020 3:47 pmHopefully the "Summer Prague Open 2021" will take place.Tim Spanton wrote: ↑Tue Nov 24, 2020 3:40 pmTrue!Simon Rogers wrote: ↑Tue Nov 24, 2020 3:38 pmI'll have a look at some other websites that I know.

Hopefully if things are virtually back to normal later next year, I might see you all visit Poulton-le-Fylde Chess Club when you holiday in Blackpool.
One of our top board players, Barry Hymer, has just brought a book out with his friend GM Peter Wells titled "Chess Improvement ". I haven't got the book yet but I've heard a lot of good reports about it. I think it's available on Amazon already.
Eyes down to the Not Chess Category. There was a poll started quite a while back which was not closed.
So make sure you vote, it will be a nice surprise for the pollster, until last night no one had voted.
It's about a hot air balloon and who you would want to be left with.

So Cornwall can have a little rule of 6 adult chess. Lol The chances of much of the country going into Tier 1 before the summer seems quite remote given that the vaccine roll out will likely be a longer process than some optimistic predictions suggest.

Vaccinating 'everyone' (or enough for herd immunity anyway) might take that long yes. 6-8 weeks to do a single person if nothing else!Matt Bridgeman wrote: ↑Thu Nov 26, 2020 11:57 amSo Cornwall can have a little rule of 6 adult chess. It isn't as clear when they'll start to lift things though, and that might well be a few months earlier.
If you've protected the truly at risk groups very reliably - which these vaccines might be considered as doing once the full data is released and double checked - then the remaining infection risk isn't something to cheer about but also might not justify the strictest measures.

It’s hard at this point not to expect the present government to make a dog’s breakfast of this uniquely huge vaccination roll out.MartinCarpenter wrote: ↑Thu Nov 26, 2020 2:08 pmVaccinating 'everyone' (or enough for herd immunity anyway) might take that long yes. 6-8 weeks to do a single person if nothing else!Matt Bridgeman wrote: ↑Thu Nov 26, 2020 11:57 amSo Cornwall can have a little rule of 6 adult chess. In terms of a vaccine roll out in the UK, the Oxford vaccine still has a few questions marks. The news today is they haven't got the data yet to support 90% efficiency in over 55's. The accidentally found half dose, full dose regime was only given to the younger age group. The two full doses appears to provide 70% protection, although figures as low as 62% have also been given.

For such a logistical challenge, maybe Holloid could give a few pointers.Re: (Chess) Life Returning To Normal

I think all the vaccines have non trivial question marks at this point - they weren't even testing the same thing etc. Good reasons approval normally takes so long! All good enough to eventually stamp on the ***** thing at least.Matt Bridgeman wrote: ↑Thu Nov 26, 2020 2:28 pmIn terms of a vaccine roll out in the UK, the Oxford vaccine still has a few questions marks. The Oxford vaccine is now running a further trial that may take 3 to 6 months to complete.

Someone is optimistic... (Czech Tour 21)
I hope the optimism is justified.
"Dear chess friends,
Let us invite you most cordially to upcoming tournaments held within the frame of 21st CZECH TOUR Series. Hopefully the tournaments will be finally realized, we are going to put all our effort into it.
The series begin with Litomysl Open (26 Dec 2020 – 1 Jan 2021) followed by Prague Open (15–22 Jan 2021), Marienbad Open (23–30 Jan 2021) and Liberec Open (27 Feb – 6 Mar 2021).
Other future tournaments of the series will be announced in February 2021."
I hope the optimism is justified.
