You've not reported back about how Coulsdon went on Monday?
How many attended?
Any interesting games?

Sounds like a decent night again Paul.
It might be worth posting your game on the Chess Forum. Either in this Category or Chess Questions.

The new curly one - 86% of people are asymptomatic. New research suggesting that for the majority of positive tests results, there aren't actually the accompanying classic symptoms of cough, fever and loss of taste/smell, based on a sample size of 36,000 people;

I suppose in a chess context, the issue might be that players might not know they are sick, and could be 'silent spreaders.'
Apparently the recently published results didn't distinguish between truly asymptomatic and pre-symptomatic cases. An accurate estimate for truly aymptomatic cases is reckoned to be 28%. See https://twitter.com/chrischirp/status/1 ... 0238402560 and the referenced paper.

According to the Irish Chess Union website Calendar the following events are still going ahead:
24th-26th October The Limerick Open, Limerick.

4th-6th December The CUS Chess Congress 2020, Dublin.
6th December The CUS Charity Christmas Blitz, Dublin.

I suspect that the two Dublin events are in danger of being cancelled due to the increased restrictions in the city.
It has just been announced on the Irish Chess Union website Calendar, that the Limerick Open scheduled for 24th to 26th October, has sadly been cancelled.

Regrettably, the local area being placed in "Tier 2" virus measures has meant Barrow Chess Club will close again for the time being.

Sorry to hear that Matt guess we are Lucky in coulsdon still low infection rates . Just hoping they dont do the circuit breaker lockdown at half term as we are planning junior camp training sessions and it gets tricky when you get too many on zoom at once .

Tier 2 measures London include Croydon. So my son 26 staying with me is out but junior camp training is on. Are CCF mad? I think you will all be zooming from saturday. You seem to ignore where your customers come from. The virus ignores boundaries. My mum is 78 and cannot have half term stays from her grand children.

They are breaking the law. "No mixing of households indoors and outdoors" - unless they all live in the same household. Our club was holding meetings under the Rule of 6 but as we are now in Tier 2 we have suspended meetings again.

Well if reported and the police take action, £200 fines for attendees for a first offence. You can be fined £10000 if you organise and more than 30 people attend.

Fines may be higher in London. Not as if more funds to enforce. Why are you making this journey on the bus. Why has mayor of London and boroughs put cameras why are LAs enforcing - to balance finance.

Enough to turn to drink but pubs will close. Pray silently for chess by Sept 2021.
