I presume that you were not invited. I was, but I didn't go.
Which pop-up organisation invited you then?David Sedgwick wrote: ↑Fri Nov 25, 2022 3:40 pmI presume that you were not invited. I was, but I didn't go.
And which MP was induced to think that Ray had something useful to say on the subject of, ah "Cultural Heritage and Leadership"?David Sedgwick wrote: ↑Fri Nov 25, 2022 3:40 pmOrganising such a meeting is not particularly difficult. You just need to find an MP to sponsor it and attend.
I don't regard that any of your business, but for the record it was my invitation was from RDK himself.
I don't know. I have been trying to identify an MP in the photograph. Can anyone help?JustinHorton wrote: ↑Fri Nov 25, 2022 3:57 pmAnd which MP was induced to think that Ray had something useful to say on the subject of, ah "Cultural Heritage and Leadership"?
Not really. Jeremy Corbyn doesn't annoy me as much as a few other people do.J T Melsom wrote: ↑Fri Nov 25, 2022 4:53 pmIs Jeremy Corbyn living rent free inside David's head as well as Rishi's ?
It's an event in the House of Commons, David, not your front room or Ray's and for that matter not a community hall. It's not a private function.

Well that's odd, isn't it? I mean if you need an MP to sponsor it, you'd think their name would be on the invitations?
Indeed not. I think it may have been technically open to the public,JustinHorton wrote: ↑Fri Nov 25, 2022 5:44 pmIt's an event in the House of Commons, David, not your front room or Ray's and for that matter not a community hall. It's not a private function.

I have been to formal events organised by Ray Keene at the House of Lords where that has indeed been the case.JustinHorton wrote: ↑Fri Nov 25, 2022 3:57 pmWell that's odd, isn't it? I mean if you need an MP to sponsor it, you'd think their name would be on the invitations?
I think it is very much the public's business who holds meetings at the House of Commons, and we both understand that this is what the question meant.David Sedgwick wrote: ↑Fri Nov 25, 2022 5:56 pmWhat I said was that it was not your business who asked me if I personally was interested in attending.
Ray Keene asked me if I would like to go along. It could equally well have been someone else who knew that the meeting was happening.JustinHorton wrote: ↑Fri Nov 25, 2022 6:00 pmI think it is very much the public's business who holds meetings at the House of Commons, and we both understand that this is what the question meant.
"come under attack"David Sedgwick wrote: ↑Fri Nov 25, 2022 6:09 pmThis is by no means the first time that I have come under attack for responding to your posts.
David, can you tell us the purpose of the meeting at the House of Commons to which you were invited by Ray Keene?David Sedgwick wrote: ↑Fri Nov 25, 2022 6:09 pmRay Keene asked me if I would like to go along. This is by no means the first time that I have come under attack for responding to your posts. In future I shall probably ignore them.
I suggest that you put any further questions to the House of Commons authorities.
That struck me as reasonable, but I suppose it is more entertaining to keep hectoring people here. If I knew more ( I have no wish to ), I expect I would consider the event a gross waste of public funds, but hardly on the scale of HS2.David Sedgwick wrote: ↑Fri Nov 25, 2022 6:09 pmI suggest that you put any further questions to the House of Commons authorities.
RDK was giving a talk on the subject of Cultural Heritage and Leadership, as mentioned in Justin's first post on the subject.Angus French wrote: ↑Fri Nov 25, 2022 8:30 pmDavid, can you tell us the purpose of the meeting at the House of Commons to which you were invited by Ray Keene?
I don't know for certain, but I imagine that a fee was payable.NickFaulks wrote: ↑Fri Nov 25, 2022 10:28 pmThat struck me as reasonable, but I suppose it is more entertaining to keep hectoring people here.
