For those wanting an update on Longson-Jones, as of 10 minutes ago Jones was suffering in a rook endgame a pawn down. It's not been a good week for the champion.

Fantastic start for David Howell though. 4/4, Gawain quite some way back, the in form Gormally beaten and the dangerous Yang-Fan out of the way. A draw with Black against Stephen Gordon tomorrow and the title is far from in the bag but he must be a very firm favourite.

Hosting is right so they must have lost the connection to the board on site sorry

Morning all.

Have just been for a lovely walk in the woods with our West-highland terrier dog.

Yang-Fan will fight back and is not out of the way.You would not want to be his next opponent when he has lost a game

What on earth is Terry Chapman playing at? Oh well, it will get Bogdan nearer the front. It would be interesting to see if he could rouse himself to put an effort in if he had to win with Black for the title, for example.

As Bogdan would say: increadible. Two attacking pieces vs. six defending pieces? How could a 2300 (or 220-graded) player do that?
