'Chess Tips For Beginners; Building An Opening Repertoire

Post by Alex Therrien » Tue Jun 14, 2011 3:24 pm

I just wanted to publicise a recent article I wrote for beginner players looking to improve their range of openings; http://chesstutor.co.uk/chess-tips-2/ch ... epertoire/

Thanks,

Alex

I think there is a mistake when suggesting repertoire options for Black:

Code: Select all

Against 1 d4
Hyper aggressive/risky: Blackmar-Diemar Gambit, Budapest Gambit
The Blackmar-Diemer gambit is indeed aggressive/risky but it's played by White. You should switch that to Benoni Defence / Benko gambit.

Alex you haven't made it clear what you mean by 'publicise'. Do you want your article to remain copright? Have you written it for the good of humanity or to publicise yourself? There is nothing wrong with the latter.
Have you ever looked at my book 'Chess Openings - Your Choice!' It explores the theme in your article extensively.
A player deciding whether to play the Benko or QGD Orthodox is no longer a beginner. He may be very inexperienced.
