Let the buyer beware.
Sleeping with one of these books under your pillow doesn't work. I've tried it.

Ah, but I was so much older then. I'm younger than that now.

GM Dorfman said Dvoretsky was always a poor patzer!

I do somewhat think that was an example of what is now called "trash talking"

Im pretty sure dvorestkys contributions to the game will be remembered far more in the future then those of a mediocre Grandmaster that most people living right now haven't heard of.
Just a shame he has such a crazy unpronounceable surname - there are so much easier Russian names he could have chosen

Dorfman's probably best known for a game he lost.

Yes he will. However in July 2002 Dorfman was ranked no.77 in the world. I think calling that mediocre is somewhat off the mark.Joey Stewart wrote: ↑Fri Feb 07, 2020 1:54 pmIm pretty sure dvorestkys contributions to the game will be remembered far more in the future then those of a mediocre Grandmaster that most people living right now haven't heard of.

Re: Dvoretsky books
He did also win the Soviet Championship the following year. Mediocre more than harsh.
Certainly trash talking on both sides, in the best tradition of rivalry between Soviet coaches. Dvoretsky accused Dorfman of trying to trick his readers by pretending that chess could be explained with a grand theory. Loads of good stuff in English by Dvoretsky. But Grischuk is the big name chess24 use to promote their Dorfman content.

But when the game you lose is as good as that one......Dorfman fought to the bitter end as well.

You have to remember that Joey is talking about someone called Dvorestkys.
