I know it was the era of glasnost, but I don't think that would extend to the Lancashire Juniors having someone in their team who said
""bred in Sheffield, fed in Surrey""

Dave's among the many excellent people involved in Lancashire chess
Dave is a great guy.
He was part of the Lancashire Junior team visit to Leningrad back in 1990 with myself, Ben Hague and Paul Heaton.
I'm guessing that the latter isn't the singer from The Beautiful South?
The Housemartins are from Hull surely?

Wow, we've got the singer from the Beautiful South on here to confirm he wasn't part of the Lancashire Junior team. It is amazing the reach the ecforum has.

I liked the lyrics for Perfect 10.
It was a very strong Lancashire Team.
I think I was on board 12.
Ben Hague was on board 4.
Some of the higher boards was:
Julian Seethrando, Simon Myles, Paul Heaton, Ben Hague, Paul Isherwood.
Some of the adults on the team was Ken Gorman, Steve Berkeley, Dave Clayton and the late Walter Cottier.
I'm pretty sure Simon Myles is playing in the Warrington area after dropping out of chess for a long while.
The strongest Lancashire junior team since then was when the team was Henry Broadley, Matthew and James Walsh, Jordan Lewis and Judd Bennett.

Anybody know of the future plans for the Lancashire Congresses?

Blackpool
Heywood
Leyland

I expect 2022 at the earliest now.

Hi Paul.
I've looked at the various Lancashire congress websites and found not much.
Blackpool Congress says next congress TBA.

Nothing on the Heywood Congress website apart from information about the 2019 event. I had a look at the Heywood Chess Club website aswell which was updated on the 19th July and states the club "will officially reopen on the 1st of September."

On the Leyland Congress there is nothing apart from the last OTB event in 2019. Whether it will be online, that I don't know.
The Leyland Rapidplay website shows information and entries for the online event back in February but nothing about a future event.

The Preston Chess Congress also has the 2019 results and the mention of the 2020 event being cancelled. Nothing about this year's event.
Simon

Anybody got any updates from Lancashire Chess Association ?
Usual websites have not been updated for quite sometime.

Who are organisers of the 1st FIDE Ribble Rapidplay being organised in Leyland?
