Ezra Kirk did well just to find the venue, if his round 5 game is anything to judge by :shock:

Don't know if anyone else noticed but Matthew Wadsworth resigned in a Rook against Rook and Bishop ending against Alan Merry in the last round in a position which was still drawn. Also interesting is that Alan won with R+B against R in the 1st round against James Golding.

Did he overlook the (fairly familiar) stalemate defence? That has been known......

This is the position where he resigned.



Perhaps he thought that if 1. Ra3, then .. Bc6 would win, overlooking that this permits Kb3
