Not now, it seems. Some of the lower rated players on high boards have not quite handled the pressure today and have blown some good positions. (Generally though, Hand has made a very good impression this weekend)
Trent-Hand showing as 0-1 on both the live games and chess-results.

The final position is probably winning for White, so presumably Trent overstepped (all moves in 90 mins, plus 30 secs per move increment from move 1)

Final position looks totally won for White - White king coming to c6 very soon - but after all this time waiting for the result to be "corrected", and seeing the next round pairings, it must indeed be a loss on time.

Wow! Shades of Gormally v Radanovic at Hastings a few years ago ...

Pressure on Pert to beat Hebden now! And the possibility of a multiple pile up, at least for second place, on 4/5 if he doesn't.

The pairings also indicate that Trent has withdrawn.

Graham Borrowdale wrote:Forgive me asking, but have the rest of the qualifiers or invitees to the British Knockout Championship been announced?
Rather to my surprise, it seems that they haven't, so I'd better not divulge them. I imagine that there will be a press release in a few days giving the players and the draw.
Graham Borrowdale wrote:My thought with the qualifying places was whether any of the participants at this congress had either already been selected or might reasonably expect to be selected or invited.
That I can answer and the answer is no.

None of the six invitees are playing at the 4NCL Congress. Unless anyone withdraws, only the two who qualify will get to play at the British Knockout Championship itself.

I was expecting a draw to be enough for Pert and that the pressure was on Heb having to try to beat Nick with black.

Nick just needs a draw, doesn't he?

I think Fernandez and Pert both need a draw. If Fernandez draws and Pert loses then Hebden and Hands are tied on progressive scores, so it goes to sum of opponents ratings, probably favours Hebden, but haven't checked. So Hands would need to win.

If Fernandez and Hebden win then they take the places.

So it seems. I was wondering whether he (Pert) would finish ahead of Hand on tiebreak if top board was a draw. But I guess that Hand would lose out on sum of progressive, slightly unfairly one might think, since he had to play a strong player much earlier than Nick did. Though given how he won in round four, he would also be rather lucky to be in a tiebreak at all.

Ok, both Hand and Hebden need to pull off wins with Black then ....

(written before I saw Richard's mail. I haven't checked Hand v Hebden either)

Hebden has indeed got a higher average rating than Hands

Live games don't seem to have started yet - at least not on my PC.
