British Senior Championships

Post by Tim Harding » Fri Aug 12, 2022 2:47 pm

What's the matter with the live coverage of the British 50+ Championship? Or is it just a problem on chess24?

Round 5 should have started at 2.30pm today but at 2.45 chess24 still don't have the pairings.

Yesterday a game was shown as drawn after 7 moves, later corrected to drawn after 39 moves. Actually Black won.
Every day up to now several player names have been missing.

Is it the hardware or the operator or the link to chess24 that is malfunctioning?

chess24

Is it being broadcast with delay perhaps? EDIT, appears the times used indicate it started at 2:30 pm, so presumably not, just a late start to the broadcast

No delay just a problem with the link perhaps but there are again some names missing
For example board 4, you have to click into the game itself before the player names are displayed,

I am wondering whether this is an issue with the hardware or is it the arbiters being unfamiliar with the DGT Livechess software which does have some peculiarities.

I am told that C24 has specific issues - particularly if the names as input dont match what it has in its database (a particular issues with middle names v's multiple middle initials was mentioned). Lichess also seemed to have some issues though on some days.
