Re: Northumbria Masters
Jacob Boswell's TPR after round 4 has got him into the next British, whenever that may be.

What is the norm position in the APAs?

Re: Northumbria Masters
Early days, five rounds to go. Conor Murphy is on 3.5/4 in the GM norm event. GM norm is 6.5/9 and I think in the IM norm event the IM norm is also 6.5.

Re: Northumbria Masters
Are the qualification criteria published anywhere? I assume you're referring to the criterion that said a TPR in excess of 2350 over the first 4 or more games of a suitable tournament got you a place, but that isn't documented anywhere I can find.IM Jack Rudd wrote: ↑Sat Aug 28, 2021 4:00 pmJacob Boswell's TPR after round 4 has got him into the next British, whenever that may be.

Re: Northumbria Masters
With two rounds to go in the GM norm event Conor Murphy needs 0.5/2, Matthew 1.5/2, Ravi 2/2. Marcus needs 1/2 for a 4th IM norm.LawrenceCooper wrote: ↑Sat Aug 28, 2021 4:30 pmEarly days, five rounds to go. Conor Murphy is on 3.5/4 in the GM norm event. In the IM event the lowest rated player Zala Urh needs 1/2 for a WGM norm or 1.5 for an IM norm and James Moreby needs 2/2.

There is some discussion of the qualification criteria on this forum here and here. The original page on the ECF site (https://www.britishchesschampionships.co.uk/qualifying-regulations-2020) is no longer available, but it is archived on the Wayback Machine.

Conor has presumably secured the IM title (or has he already done that with previous results?); I am unsure if the FIDE list is up to dateLawrenceCooper wrote: ↑Sun Aug 29, 2021 9:05 pmWith two rounds to go in the GM norm event Conor Murphy needs 0.5/2, Matthew 1.5/2, Ravi 2/2. I heard that he did so at Muswell Hill earlier this month.Mick Norris wrote: ↑Mon Aug 30, 2021 11:09 amConor has presumably secured the IM title (or has he already done that with previous results?); I am unsure if the FIDE list is up to dateLawrenceCooper wrote: ↑Sun Aug 29, 2021 9:05 pmWith two rounds to go in the GM norm event Conor Murphy needs 0.5/2, Matthew 1.5/2, Ravi 2/2. Marcus has his 4th IM norm. Conor needs 0.5/1 (against Tamas Fodor) and Ravi 1/1 for a GM norm against Matthew who is still playing but may also need to win!
Zala Urh has her WGM norm and needs a draw for an IM norm against James who needs to win.

Does Dong get an IM norm if he beats Modi in the other event? It must be pretty close.

Murphy draws with Fodor and wraps up his GM norm. Congratulations to him.

Sadly, playing seven English players looks rather problematic.IM Jack Rudd wrote: ↑Mon Aug 30, 2021 3:32 pmDoes Dong get an IM norm if he beats Modi in the other event? It must be pretty close.

Ah yes, and though there are 21 non-English players in the tournament, only one of them is a GM or IM.

Who's in charge of the live games? There's a transcription error in Eggleston-Harvey.

Congratulations to Ravi for his final GM norm, and to Zala for the IM norm!
