Don't you remember how these things were done? They will use an estimated result.Christopher Kreuzer wrote: ↑Thu Aug 15, 2024 10:05 pmHostage to fortune there. And what about the round 8 draw?

The pairings have been done on the assumption that that game's result is a draw. If the game's result is anything else, the pairings stand, but the result in the file will be corrected.

I had forgotten, assuming I had even been following events closely enough last time.NickFaulks wrote: ↑Thu Aug 15, 2024 10:08 pmDon't you remember how these things were done? Thankfully it sounds like things were handled as well as they could be.

Looking at John's report, he wishes to know if there are orangutans in Poland.
Yes! See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sugQFHcj49Q and https://orientarium.lodz.pl/en/sumatran ... rientarium.
The top one in the second link does look like a chess player.
"Lodz" (+ accents) is approximately pronounced "woodge".

It must be nearing the arbiter declaring it 0-0 for bringing the game into disrepute!!

If this isn''t bringing the game into disrepute, then I've never seen it.
The only possible good news is that organisers will finally grow a pair and reject certain entries.
I know, dream on.

I agree with Nick.
To be honest I don't think it's too late to score the game 0 - 0.

0-1 after 272 moves but fair to say it was decided after white's 217th.LawrenceCooper wrote: ↑Fri Aug 16, 2024 8:33 amThe adjournment is underway: https://lichess.org/broadcast/iii-kings ... d/LmSWG74j

Incidentally I believe a 3-fold might've been missed with 182.Re2 (based mostly on computer assessing that as 0.00).

I really hope that the Chief Arbiter does take action here.
I would love to hear why Black does not think that he was bringing the game into disrepute. The case against White is slightly weaker in that he can argue that he was trying to allow his opponent to mate him (though the rook checks weakens that defence considerably).

I hope that any effort to get this into the Guinness Book of Records, or recognised on Wikipedia, will be robustly challenged.IM Jack Rudd wrote: ↑Fri Aug 16, 2024 9:11 amPeter gives checkmate on move 272, breaking the OTB record.
