Marcus du Sautoy recently presented a 4 part programme on BBC4 on the history of mathematics which I thought was quite interesting. He's a mathematics professor at Oxford University. In a chess-playing context I've never heard of him either.

As a maths teacher I have a great deal of respeect for Marcus du Sautoy and all he has done to popularise maths amongst able students. Now he is also Charles Simonyi Professor for the Public Understanding of Science he will do other interesting things - and it great to see one of the first things refers not only to chess but also the recent chess events.
