Not in the same class as the Blackpool Conference, but I played in the Birmingham Rapidplay, Sunday 15th March. Sutton Coldfield's Henrik Stepanyan won the Open.
I well remember many players awkwardly bump elbows at the start of a game only to forgetfully shake hands at the end.

Re: 44th Blackpool Chess Conference
In Manchester, we're launching the second edition of our online individual, currently holding our first online congress, the second edition of our online league is ongoing, we won the Open and u1825 online MCCU county championships, as well as the online u1825 challengers ECF county championships (which also saw Cumbria and Cheshire & N Wales take part)
We're also undertaking our 2nd survey of MCF clubs to ascertain what they will be willing and able to do, both OTB and online, for 2021/22
Lots of info on the website
Merseyside seem busy online too
